The collection of chairs BM1 and BM2, signed by DK3, was originally designed and handcrafted by the Danish designer Borge Mogensen in 1958. The BM1 and BM2 chairs were probably some of the most recognized classical pieces of furniture from the Danish’s design golden age (between 1950 and 1960).
This collection of chairs is characterized by the simplicity of lines and design, as well as the quality of the selected materials and manufacturing methods.
The design of the BM1 and BM2 chairs (almost organic) draws inspiration from the Scandinavian design heritage; the chair assumes its basic function and gives up on unnecessary adornments.
The seat, made of paper cord, is handcrafted in the workshops of DK3, as is the wooden frame of the chair. The structure is made of a single part and the back of the chair has been designed to perfectly match the lines of the body.
The BM1 and BM2 chairs are available in 3 different wood species: natural oak, smoked oak and black lacquered oak. The seat is also available in different paper cord. The BM1 chair does not have an armrest.
