Ocrùm
Ocrùm studio was founded by Chinese designer Sean Zhang and is based in New York. The studio designs and creates a collection of furniture, lightings, mirrors and decoration. The confrontation of materials, elements, feelings, and influences is characteristic of Ocrùm’ designs.
Sean Zhang devoted his life to design after studying design in Milan and Chicago.
The creations oft he designer and his studio Ocrùm are very inspired by Chinese Taoist culture and especially the « Dong Jing Jie He » which literally means: « Dong » fluctuation of the water surface and « Jing » light exposure.
This duality can be found in the mirror collection by Ocrùm, maybe the most famous collection oft he studio. The mirrors are always designed the same way: an association of two different parts. The first part of the mirror is made from carved marble or glazed ceramic and the second part, made from glass mirror.
This mirror collection, named Orizon, and signed by Ocrùm, is an allegory of the sea and horizon. The tinted glass is the sky, when the sea is crafted by using carved marble or glazed ceramic
The studio Ocrùm also sign a collection of lightings in blown glass, designed as the mirror collection: the union of two different parts creating an illusion of a dew / water drop.
